Understand if you book Cathay for a connecting flight to Asia, you'll leave the comfort of the renowned Cathay economy and business offering and be placed on HK Express once you land at Hong Kong.

This will be even more of a shock if you have a OneWorld airline club privilege, priority check in and boarding, perhaps seat choice, even lounge access—you lose all that as you get put on HK Express, a budget airline in every sense (though wholly owned by Cathay).

Long queues at check-in, no online option, coming back into HKG and so on. But you can pay a small fee at any HK Express desk and get 'priority'... well worth it to avoid a one- or two-hour check-in wait. As for your seat, well, I just hope it's a short connection.
