From summer savings to Black Friday discounts, let us guide you through the world of Canadian Airline sales and when to expect them. We break down a few major carriers operating across the country and what time of year you might want to keep their homepages bookmarked.

For our European audience, we have a similar UK & EU guide to airline sales for your neck of the woods (or read on for valuable advice on saving a few euros on your next skip across the pond). Our goal is to demystify the phoney 'sales' that get passed off as legit, hoping no one will realize. Now, let's filter out the good from the bad.

Psssst. BTW: the easiest way to cut through the noise is to sign up for Jack’s Flight Club, and we'll do the investigating for you! *ahem* Anyway, read on for more info on when Canadian airlines release flight sales!

Let’s see a show of hands — how many of you have nearly lost it while booking a flight during an airline sale?

It’s a dizzying, code-clicking whirlwind of upgrades, extras, and upsells that leaves you at the checkout wondering if the discount was worth the trouble. Worst of all, you might find that the “sale” wasn’t a sale at all!

Thankfully, you have us to put the sweat (blood and tears too) in for you. Our goal? Break down the major carriers operating across Canada, let you know when to keep their homepages bookmarked, and help filter out the good from the bad.

Sounds simple enough, eh? Let’s get to work.

Canadian Airlines

Air Canada

As our premier Canadian airline, you’d expect AC to come through with solid sales. Unfortunately, you'd be wrong. We don't see many “real deal” sales from Air Canada, even during Black Friday. On the bright side, we do tend to see some price drops in July and September, and you might want to keep their home page on your bookmark bar for the holidays as well. Oh, and take a peek during Canada Day, although we were a bit disappointed in the discounts in 2025.

WestJet

Canada's second-biggest airline, WestJet, also enjoys passing off marginal price discounts and calling it a “great deal.” Maybe it’s just a Canadian thing? It feels like we get a notification every month about supposed sales, but the results have been mediocre at best. We also found their Black Friday & Cyber Monday sales to be on par with random “unofficial” sale prices that pop up across the year. That goes for their Mom and Pop Day sales, too. Don't get us wrong; these can still be good times to find discounted fares on less-travelled routes. But we often find better prices outside those sale dates.

We were thoroughly impressed by the Easter offerings in 2025, weirdly enough, so eyes peeled to see if that repeats this year!

Flair

This article’s first big winner! We love a budget airline that offers solid sale pricing, and Flair matches that description to a T. When they run a domestic promo, you're unlikely to find a fare for cheaper. However, we did find their Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales to be lacklustre in 2025. Instead, the time to look forward to is Canada Day, with coast-to-coast routes across the country for as little as $90 RT. They also earn some brownie points for having held two different tariff sales to promote domestic routes. Nothing wrong with a little Canadian pride!

Air Transat

Air Transat plays it a little fast and loose with discounts. All of their standard advertised sales (Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and New Year’s Day) were a little too expensive for our standards in 2025. But we see plenty of price drops scattered at random throughout the year, especially from Toronto, Montreal, and the rest of the East Coast. It’s a little like jazz: it’s all about the sales you don’t announce, dig? Be careful, though, as their base fares may be discounted, but surcharges on booking can sneak up on you.

And if you’re struggling to keep track of prices, don’t worry. We have a guide for that too.

Porter

Porter is another one of our beloved budget superstars. Their fall discounts rock, but be prepared to do some work, since a code is usually required. Sites like Google Flights might not pick up the proper price, forcing you to search directly through the airline website (yuck). But with a little effort, you can snag fares like Ottawa-Edmonton in the $150s RT. Not too shabby!

Air North

Air North is one of the few airlines still offering free carry-ons and checked bags on all flights, so we're thankful to have them around. And when it comes to flying to Whitehorse or Yellowknife, there’s really no one better! Victoria Day and Black Friday saw the best deals in 2025, but we cover spontaneous, unannounced seat sales year-round. We often see decently priced hops from Vancouver to Victoria and vice versa for as low as $121 RT, too — more than worth it when you consider how much extra luggage can cost!

International Airlines

COPA

Moving beyond Canadian-run airlines, COPA Airlines is a Panamanian carrier with great routes and even better sales. Their “Blue Week” (aka Black Friday) is something we look forward to every year, although 2025’s version wasn’t up to their usual standards — get it together, guys! Outside of sales, COPA is sometimes overshadowed by the slightly lower-cost Avianca flights, but it’s generally worth the slightly higher cost to get a free carry-on bag, better service, and a bit more legroom.

Arajet

2025 saw an acceptable one-day Cyber Monday sale from Arajet, with flights up to 60% off. If you’re searching for decent fares to Latin America, then definitely check in for future Black Fridays (or Cyber Mondays, or Travel Tuesdays, or whatever other stupid name they come up with). Like Avianca, this is a lower-cost option that requires you to pay for bags, but the tickets themselves are usually mega cheap!

Icelandair

Another Black Friday winner for this year, Icelandair served up deals to England, Ireland, and, well, Iceland for under $800 RT, including some killer Toronto-to-Dublin fares in the $450s. They’re also known for top-notch summer sales, with cheap flights all over Europe from across Canada. So, if you're planning a European trip, have a plan ready by June, when those sweet, sweet sales roll through!

TAP Air Portugal

Our friends at TAP tend to follow other international carriers with some serious discounts, especially on Black Friday. The bulk of their discounts in 2025 were for Southern and Western Europe, with flights to Italy in the $800s and some cool Portugal non-stops around $600 RT, plus a handful of deals to spots further out like Morocco and Vilnius. TAP also came through in April with a spring sale that created some crazy cheap Spanish getaways.

KLM

The Royal Dutch airline knows how to keep things posh, boasting a solid network of routes that connect seamlessly through Amsterdam. This is partly thanks to its membership in the SkyTeam Alliance and partly due to its partnership with Air France — a friendship built on croissants, red wine, and strong opinions about whose accent sounds fancier. While major KLM sales don’t often pop up here in the Great North, your best bet is to wait for us to flag any worthwhile price drops when they happen.

British Airways

We saw a good spring sale from the chaps over at BA in 2025, with a sun-packed list of European spots all for under $800 RT. They can be sneaky with their sale announcements, especially for Black Friday. But even without officially announcing a Canadian sale (cheeky, but nothing flies under our radar), we caught Scandinavia in the $600-$700s!

Air France

Similar to their Dutch counterparts, these guys are lucky to even be included; they’ve only been bumped up because PLAY went out of business and we needed to fill the space! Air France doesn’t usually show us much love, but we’ve managed to catch a nibble of their leftover Black Friday deals in the past, including some sweet routes to Africa.

ZIPAIR Tokyo

ZIPAIR is the go-to for low-cost, long-haul flights to Japan, but they only fly out of Vancouver. The best time to look for a ZIPAIR sale is Black Friday, but be mindful that you’ll be paying extra for baggage and other amenities, unlike full-service international airlines. 2025’s Black Friday offerings were about on par with the random discounts we see throughout the year, so you may as well snag these tickets whenever you see them (or whenever we send them to you).

Cathay Pacific

A slightly more expensive option when flying to Asia is Cathay’s full-service routes from Vancouver and Toronto. They drop you off in Hong Kong, but their absolutely massive network keeps the whole continent in play. Again, Black Friday sales are a good bet with Cathay (we saw Thailand in the $650s in 2025!), but we also found some unexpected Southeast Asia sales around September, so we highly recommend subscribing to our Flights emails to hop across the Pacific in style!

Honourable Mentions

These airlines didn’t quite make the cut for this review of Canadian airline sales (not enough routes from good ol’ Canada), but it’s always worth checking them out when Black Friday rolls around.
