Several days in Toronto in the concrete jungle of the city and with humidity topping 35 degrees was broken as I arrived at the cabin on Lake Huron, close to Parry Sound. The simple cabin gave way to a trail, down to the jetty and the lake. As I looked at what would be the base for the next stage of my trip the rain started to fall in thick drops, breaking the heat but further fragmenting the sunlight that was bouncing of the water and through the trees.
The sudden cool and wet, the sound of the lake slapping the shore, birds and wildlife and a stunning rainbow felt perfectly choreographed to ensure I took breath and shifted gear for a few days.
