We had the mountain lake hike almost to ourselves...

I visited the Seven Rila Lakes in Rila Mountain. It’s been a long standing dream of mine which I kept putting off due to my fear of using the chair lifts or not finding the time. I took my family from the UK, and I planned it so we stay on Sunday overnight at the only place available situated at the end of the lift and the base of the lakes. It was just us, the house staff and about ten other hiking families from around Europe. It was the night of the Euro 2024 final between England and Spain which unfortunately England lost. It was amazing to see my teenage children mixing with the other young people in the visitors hall and playing chess with the locals from the hotel. On the next day the chair lift was shut for its routine Monday maintenance so we had the mountain lake hike almost by ourselves. So serene and beautiful, almost unreal.
