I found myself in Puerto Rico

In March 2021, I took my first solo trip to Puerto Rico. Like so many people, I was carrying the weight of everything the world has been through. I needed a change of scenery, but what I found was so much more.

I found MYSELF...

One of the biggest challenges of the trip was hiking through El Yunque Rainforest to Mt. Britton Tower. As a plus size woman, I had never attempted a hike like this before. The trail was steep, wet and exhausting. More than once, I wanted to turn around and head back down, but something inside me kept saying "JUST KEEP GOING!"

When I finally reached the top, I stood there taking in this breathtaking view. At that moment, I wasn't thinking about how difficult the climb had been. I was overwhelmed with pride. I had done something I never believed I could do.

This photo reminds me that some of the hardest journeys lead to the most beautiful views.. Not just in the world but within ourselves. Puerto Rico gave me 8 unforgettable days, but more importantly, it gave me confidence, resilience and proof that I am capable of more than I ever imagined.
