Alright Arizonans, I'm gonna level with you. The Canadian Northwest Territories are cold this time of year, especially if you're used to Phoenix's winters.
That said, Yellowknife knows how to reward intrepid visitors. Only 250 miles below the Arctic Circle, these far reaches of Canada can feel like the edge of the world. Think wide open blankets of glittering snow, towering frozen waterfalls, and cozy cabins ringed with icicles. It's the kind of place where you spend the whole day outside, then head back to the local hole-in-the-wall for some comfort food.
If this will be your first time venturing out into the Great White Frozen North, check out our guide to bundling up. El Niño is expected to keep the most brutal temps at bay, but you'll still most likely run into some sub-zero weather.
And no matter what the thermometer says, there's sure to be a light show :-)
Jack's take
It's been almost three years since we last saw Yellowknife! The only catch is these are a bit last-minute, so don't waste time thinking and get to planning!
