Make sure you pack your dancing shoes for this one, because tango is a must on the banks of the Río de la Plata.
Latin America's most passionate dance was born right here on the streets of Montevideo and nearby Buenos Aires, and you'll still see it everywhere you look. You can hit a tango bar to see how the pros do it, but we also recommend taking a class or two and checking out some milongas, social tango-dancing events held all over the city. The most popular spot is Joventango, but we recommend asking around after you land - the best milongas can't be found online.
Montevideo's tango scene is famously relaxed and welcoming, but if you're feeling a little self-conscious, some of that iconic Uruguayan wine should help :-)
Jack's take
These are the cheapest fares from NYC to Montevideo we've seen in over a year! And we love flying American instead of a budget option.
