Let these fares to Brazil soothe your way through hump day…

Instead of sticking around when you touch down in wintry São Paulo, I'd skip the big cities altogether and fly up north.

Why? Well, May marks the beginning of the high season in heaven on earth: Lençois Maranhenses National Park.

The park is slowly getting popular with tourists, and more and more day-trips from the towns around the desert — like Barrerinhas and Atins — are coming up.

But here's my pro tip: you'll want to book a 3+ day tour (in 2021 I went with Caetés Expedições), to be able to access the most remote areas of the desert and avoid the crowds.

Just be ready to sleep on colourful hammocks for a couple of nights…
