Once you've tried your first bite of real Peruvian ceviche, you won't want to tear yourself away for anything.
But you should! Sometimes it's worth going hungry for a few minutes to nail down a killer day trip.
Take Marcahuasi, for instance. Just look at that gorgeous scenery and those mysterious carved stone faces (maybe left by aliens
). Aren't the views here worth a 3-hour ceviche-less drive?
The same goes for Las Ballestas. You can go a few hours without that sweet sweet fish/lemon juice/chopped peppers blend if it means checking out Peru's Little Galapagos, right?
Oh, and if you take advantage of the trips in August and September, make sure you stop by Lomas de Lachay. Those misty green hills will make you forget all about your rumbling stomach - just try to get back by dinner time.
Jack's take
It's been a minute, but we always take note when Peru fares dip.
