Typically I use Costa Rica fares as an excuse to link you a bunch of sloth videos, but this time I'll resist the urge and recommend some weird places instead.
Rec #1 is the abandoned mansion of El Miro, located in the hills above Jaco. Once the dream house of a wealthy local, this elaborate villa was abandoned partway through construction. These days, it's been taken over by Jaco's street art scene and also provides some killer views of the city below.
Rec #2 is the Durán Sanatorium, halfway up the slopes of the Irazú Volcano. Built in the 1910s as a tuberculosis hospital, the center now stands eerily empty - except for the ghosts, of course. Decades of reported sightings make this place (supposedly) the most haunted building in Costa Rica.
Finally, rec #3 is Manuel Antonio National Park, where you can SPOT SOME SLOTHS.

It's been a minute since you guys have seen non-stop flights to Costa Rica. Why suffer an unneeded layover?
