So let's play Goldilocks and settle down right between them!
The central city of Da Nang is where you'll land, but this trip really includes two towns: Da Nang itself, and Hoi An. While they're only about half an hour apart by taxi, they have totally different vibes.
For the fifth largest city in Vietnam, Da Nang offers a pretty laid-back view of the country. You won't find the expected chaos here, just (often empty) beaches and good coffee shops, plus one fire-breathing bridge.
Most visitors to this area congregate in Hoi An. It can get crowded, but it's not hard to see why folks want to be here — a 500-year-old neighborhood, bright yellow buildings, and a lively riverfront make this an incredible town to meander.
