Cyprus in $490s-$520s RT

As we charge through Black Friday week, so far an underlying theme has been "unexpected rare gems." While this deal wasn't labeled as a sale (and we're still hoping to see more drops from these airlines), it's definitely in line with that theme! This island can be pretty tricky to reach.

At the far east end of the Mediterranean, Cyprus is the old old world. Old enough that the ancient Greeks considered this island to be the origin of the goddess Aphrodite, believing that she rose up from the sea foam on the beach.

Seems like a pretty good tagline for Cyprus: "Beaches so nice, they birthed the goddess of beauty!" After all, who wouldn't want this to be the first thing they see on Earth?

While this story might be a myth, the impact it made is very real. You can visit the nearby temple constructed in her honor about 3,500 years ago, one of many ancient sites on the island. 

So here's hoping for more rare routes this week! It's not every day you get to walk in the footsteps of a goddess :-)
