Brutalism lovers, this one's for you!

The least visited capital city in Europe has some impressive soviet-era relics dotted all around the city — spanning from colourful intricate mosaics, to tourist-only hotels, you'll find everything your concrete-lover heart desires.

My personal favourite? Just a 30-minute walk from the city centre, passing the Leninist Komsomol monument along the way, is the Chișinău State Circus. It used to be the most advanced circus building in the Soviet Union!

And for the most adventurous among you, why not hopping into Transnistria the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic too?

FYI, the UK government advises against travel to PMR, so your travel insurance likely wouldn't cover a visit. That said, there have been no recent reports of unrest or increased military activity in the area. We recommend keeping your eye on the local news before crossing into the territory.
