This one is for you early planners. Meal preppers, morning joggers, and people who file their taxes in January know how important it is to stay ahead of the game, and that applies to traveling too.

Personally, I can't relate. But I do understand wanting to see Amsterdam in summer. Sitting on a blanket in the park, munching on poffertjes and watching swimmers in the canal sure sounds like a great time. Maybe later you'll check out one of the city's many museums before the open-air jazz festival starts up again.

Of course, peak summer flights usually cost an arm and a leg. Usually. But there are always deals to be found if you check early enough (or let us check for you).

Now you have 9 whole months to plan your itinerary. You'll probably be done by next week though :-)

P.S. If you're more of a winter person (and flying out of Houston), you can ring in the New Year on your way to Amsterdam instead.
