If you can only name one Vietnamese food, it's probably pho.

So it's not surprising that Hanoi is absolutely covered with kitchens serving up the soup. And of course, no one agrees on which pho restaurant is the best.

This is where I would usually recommend a few pho places to get you started, but I'd rather send you off on your own. The reason?

Every listicle, Reddit thread, and travel blogger seems to come to the same conclusion: To find the most incredible pho in Hanoi, you'll need to wander back alleys, read handwritten signs, take questionable directions, and knock on nondescript doors. You have to seek it out, like buried treasure.

So go forth and search, dear JFC-er! Your noble quest for soup will not be fruitless. As one Reddit comment states, "Every pho is the best pho" :-)
