So picture this: sand as white as snow, tides bluer than the sky, and the dancing shadows of a swaying palm tree overhead... and no hordes of drunk college students.

That's right! Miami might be known for its party animal allure, but choose the right beach, and you can enjoy those idyllic Florida shores without the chaos. Our local Miamian Allan helped me write a guide to Miami recently, and his pick for a gorgeous, quiet beach was Key Biscayne. Pretty scenery, a historic lighthouse, its own café, what more could you want?

One word of advice, though — Try to snag the latest dates possible for this one! The weather down here is much, much nicer in November than August :-)
