Of course, it may not be worth going all the way to the outback to see them in the wild, when you can spend that time scuba diving with the mantas, sharks, sea turtles, and all kinds of other undersea beings. You can do it around Sydney, but may as well give in to the cliché and book that day-trip to the Great Barrier Reef

By the time you're back overwater, if there's any energy adrenaline left to spare, just do the opposite and go all the way up in the air.
