New Delhi is full of crumbling ruins left by long-fallen empires. But the 650-year-old citadel of Feroz Shah Kotla is more well-known for its current occupants.
According to local legend, the fortress ruins are haunted by ancient spirits called djinns—"genies" in English. Born out of smokeless fire, India's djinns are significantly less chatty than the Robin Williams version, but they do have the power to grant wishes.
Every Thursday, local Muslims come to Feroz Shah Kotla to leave offerings and ask for the djinns' favor. If you have a wish, you're welcome to join them :-)
Just be careful not to anger the spirits—they have a dark side too!
