Somewhere in an alternate universe, you could do Christmas the Tenerife way... 

8:30 AM - Swap your slippers for your swimmers and start your morning with a refreshing dip in these turquoise pools.

10:30 AM - Find a beachside bar and have brunch Canarian style. Some papas arrugadas would go down a treat after a swim!

12:00 PM - Bundle up in your woollies and take a scenic drive up to the volcanic landscapes of Mount Teide National Park. Bonus points if you spot some of the white stuff.

3:00 PM - It's time for a well-deserved feast, preferably with a view.

6:00 PM - Find a spot along the cliffs at Los Gigantes and watch the crimson sun sink beneath the Atlantic, glass of cava in hand, of course.

9:00 PM - Listen out for the beats of live music in the air and follow your ear to the dance floors of Playa de las Americas. And who knows, you might see the sun again sooner than you think :-)
