December in Taiwan? It's time to hit the hot springs

Nestled among the mountains, around 30 minutes from Taipei, you'll find Beitou. A place where clouds of dense steam dance between trees and scalding green sulphur pools bubble like a cauldron.

For the most dramatic scenery, head to the churning pools in the Thermal (Hell) Valley. But be warned, it's far too hot to take a dip.
