Ohrid is best known for its lake, which isn't just one of Europe's oldest, but also one of the most beautiful thanks to its mountainous surroundings and bright blue water.

While it might be a bit too chilly to take a dip in during winter, this perfectly placed church sits up on a hill overlooking the lake, and delivers the most picturesque views — especially at sunset!
