When you want a break from exploring Lisbon's palaces and monasteries, stop by the market at Figueira Square. Hidden among the stores and bustling fruit stands is the Hospital de Bonecas, a 200-year-old medical center that treats some very special patients. Coincidentally built on the former site of All Saint's (human) Hospital, this place has been owned and operated by the same family of doll docs for four generations.

Creepy? Yeah, maybe a little. But if you don't mind being stared at by countless pairs of glassy doll eyes, it's one of the coolest and most surreal spots in all of Portugal :-)

P.S. If you have your own injured doll, make sure you call ahead—they don't accept walk-in patients. They also probably don't take Blue Cross, so Polly's paying out-of-pocket for this one.
