Hong Kong

In true 'Jack's Fright Club' style, here's a little something if you're feeling spooky.
Legend has it that in the middle of Plover Cove Country Park to the north of Hong Kong, a bride fell into the waterfall and was carried away by the rapids, never to be seen again. This was many moons ago, of course, but it doesn't stop visitors from reporting they've seen a woman brushing her hair by the water's edge.
So, do you think it actually happened? Or does the name 'Bride's Pool' seem a little too good to be true (and good for tourism, too)? Well, one way to find out—catch the MRT to Tai Po Market station and change for a minibus to the start of the trail. And even without the creepy connotations, the waterfall is beautiful and well worth the hike.
Plus, January in Hong Kong is the driest and coldest time of year (read: a balmy 15-20 degrees), so it's honestly one of the best times to get out of the city and into the surrounding forests and mountains.
