Meet the ruins of the Hotel Belvedere — an abandoned 5-star resort within eye-line of Dubrovnik's Old Town.

Once a shiny, well-known hotel, it went through the shelling and mortars of the 1990s war. Before being abandoned, it was used as a Croatian forces military base, and its amphitheatre was even adapted as a filming location for Game of Thrones.

While you'll have to be careful with rubble, unstable infrastructure in certain areas, and smashed glass, you'll be treated to once grand hallways and terraces with incredible views of the Adriatic coast. Plus, a couple of receipts from the last guests who stayed here if you're very lucky!

The hotel is easily accessible with a taxi to Sveti Jakov car park and a little walk. The best part? Right next to it, you'll find one of the prettiest, hidden beaches of the city :-)
