Start by taking your pick of two forts: The New Fortress (deserving of a rename as it was built in the 16th-century!) is a grand display of Venetian fortifications. A 15-minute walk away sits the Old Fortress, which dates back to the 6th-century, and features a prison, a Doric-style church and a lighthouse at the veeeeery top. If you can only pick one fort though, we think these views will help make the decision for you.

Then wander through the medieval streets of the Campiello Quarter and you'll find St. Spyridon Church, with the tallest bell tower in all the Ionian islands.

Lastly, you're probably a tad tired after all those steps, so do yourself a favour and grab a cone of the most refreshing gelato you'll ever have from Papagiorgis.
