Sydney might get most of the attention, but this Queensland city packs its own wallop. While it might draw people in with the famous faces (and happenin' downtown), the real jewel here is the city's location — it's right smack dab between the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, making for ridiculously scenic road trip views in either direction. Kind of like the Aussie version of US Route 101.

In fact, it's such a killer road trip starting point that their tourism site already did all the planning work for you. Highlights include a ruined castle, wild dolphins, and some of the most enviable camping spots you've ever seen.

After all, if Brisbane's good enough for TV's most wholesome canine family, it's good enough for us.
