And there's no better time than summer to haul those hiking boots straight to the entrance of Yellowstone. There's actually five different entrances to kick start your adventure which you can read about here. 

Keep in mind, high season dates mean that many campgrounds and lodges book up quick. But you can easily book accomodation in one of the many charming gateway towns.

Just remember to bring plenty of snacks in case you hit a bison block en route - they're pretty common.

And if a cowboy offers you a detour to the "train station" just keep on walkin'...
