Leaving Puerto Rico without checking out the local music scene would be like visiting New York and skipping the pizza. It's just not done!

Salsa dancing the night away at La Factoria or La Placita is a must, naturally. But if you wake up the next morning with a burning desire to explore SJ's musical history (hangover permitting), then San Juan Sound should be your first stop.

At one time, this spot was Puerto Rico's very first radio station (and only the fifth in the whole world). But after WKAQ moved out in the '40s, the building stayed empty for decades before it was reinvented as a recording studio and live performance space.

Oh, and when you take one of their free tours, be sure to ask about the haunted jukebox :-)
