First off, hop one of the frequent ferries over to Büyükada, the largest of the nearby Princes’ Islands. Resist the cosy cafés and picturesque streets for a moment, your first port of call is securing a rental bike.

The island is car-free, so the best way for you to see the most is with the wind in your hair on a set of two wheels. It's only 16 km to ride around the whole coast, but if you aren't a fan of hills, we strongly recommend opting for an e-bike.

Then away you go… Oh, and if you're a fan of spooky abandoned buildings, the crumbling remains of Prinkipo Orphanage are a must-see!
