Chiapas & Sumidero Canyon at $268 RT

Hola, Houston! It's been a bit of a slow week for airfare deals, but we've managed to scrape up something pretty neat.

The city of Tuxtla Gutiérrez is right next to Sumidero Canyon National Park. We don't use the term "underrated gem" lightly, but it applies pretty nicely here. This canyon is ridiculously stunning, conveniently close to a major airport, and still sees almost exclusively local visitors.

The entire area is rife with waterfalls and canyons, so if you want to do more exploring after seeing Sumidero, try heading east to El Chorreadero. The (partially underground) river here has carved dozens of caves and slot canyons to explore.

Yes, the layovers are pretty rough, but you can also shorten the first one (and have WAY more date options) if you cough up another $19 RT.
