Camino de Santiago
in $430s-$520s RT
There's a famous network of trails criss-crossing over Northern Spain, but these aren't your average hiking paths — this is a pilgrimage!
For about a thousand years, people have been walking across the country to Santiago de Compostela to see the remains of St. James. While many make the journey for religious reasons, the serene landscape and constellation of charming Spanish towns brings in a lot of folks too.
There are hundreds of miles of trails to pick from, so it really is a game of "Choose Your Own Pilgrimage." Both Bilbao and A Coruña make excellent starting points!
But if you're not into long walks through rural Spain, don't turn away just yet. These cities are also pretty cool in their own right. In fact, A Coruña even made our list of top family destinations in Europe due to its incredible beaches, tasty tapas, and cool museums.
Over in Bilbao, you can get a taste of Basque culture. Stroll down the colorful riverfront, admire the eclectic architecture, and stuff your face with pinxtos.
While everyone is packing into Spain's most famous tourist towns, you'll be experiencing the real deal :-)
