Around Japan in $690s-$760s RT

We know you've gotten plenty of Japanese fares lately, but is there really such a thing as too much Japan? 

Exactly.

This time we're heading away from Tokyo to some more underrated spots: Aomori and Sendai in the north, and Miyazaki down south. The northern point of Honshu, Japan's biggest island, is quieter and more verdant than the central cities, with historic ruins scattered within unspoiled wilderness. If you can get there at the right time of year, it's also a terrific place to watch the leaves change.

Miyazaki Island, meanwhile, is off the southern coast of Honshu and has some of Japan's best beaches. For the best views, you'll want to get there in mid-March—peak cherry blossom season :-)
