Sicily
in $610s-$660s RT
Sicilian place names really roll off the tongue: Ca-TAHN-ee-uh! Pah-LAIR-mo! It's like music
And as beautiful as they sound, they're even prettier to look at. Both these cities rest along the coast of Sicily, on nearly opposite sides of the island.
Catania sits at the base of Mount Etna, whose 1669 eruption (and a later earthquake) had a huge effect on the city's architecture. Since much of it was rebuilt in the following years, it's now a hub for gorgeous Baroque architecture.
Palermo's buildings, meanwhile, are more of a melting pot. You'll spot Arab, Norman, and Roman influences. Sometimes even all in one cathedral!
P.S. Pricing on this one is a little funky, so be sure to read the text below carefully to get the best fares. And honestly? Even the highest rates in this deal are pretty solid anyway. You truly can't go wrong with this one :-)
