Auckland is a good place to start your Kiwi adventure, and there are a few cool places within the city limits.

But, for the most part, you'll want to head out into the countryside ASAP. Sorry, Aucklanders, but the city just can't compare to the natural hot springs and downhill escapades of Rotorua. Or the legendary volcanic hiking trails in Tongariro National Park.

And that's just the North Island! Take the ferry down to the South Island for a whole new set of gorgeous places, like Aoraki/Mt. Cook National Park :-)
