Is Cancún a little touristy? Yeah, absolutely. But step outside the resorts and you'll find hidden gems galore.

You don't even have to go too far! The hand-carved Mayan canals at Sian Ka'an are only a couple of hours south of the city, while the laid-back Lagoon of Seven Colors is only a few hours more. And if you don't mind an all-day drive, you can venture through the rainforest to find the ancient city of Calakmul.

Also, just between you and me, some of the touristy stuff is actually pretty fun :-)
