Winter in Riga, on the other hand, is about as holly and/or jolly as a season can get. We're talking about the site of the very first Christmas tree here! Plus, the holiday markets in Old Town just can't be beat.

But if you're not feeling the Latvian cheer, you can always check out the rest of the Baltics by train. Or take the ferry over to Tallinn from Helsinki, although you might just prefer to stay in town :-)
