Cairo 🇪🇬 in $560s-$750s RT

Let's skip over the 5,000-year-old elephants in the room and highlight some lesser-known spots in Cairo, shall we?

First off, you've got to take a stroll down al-Muizz Street. Mercifully shortened from "al-Muizz li-Din Allah al-Fatimi Street," al-Muizz runs straight through the center of Old Cairo. You'll pass by centuries-old mosques, teeming bazaars, elaborate palaces, and so much more—all in one chaotic mile. If you don't mind a little sensory overload, the markets here kinda blow Khan el-Khalili out of the water.

Next, Cairo has some pretty spectacular places of worship, but we'll shout out a more humble one here: the Monastery of St. Simon, also known as the "Cave Church." Carved into the side of the mountain, St. Simon's is the largest church in the Middle East and well worth a drive through Garbage City.

Last, but not least, Cairo actually has a pretty cool underground music scene. Start at the Cairo Jazz Club in Agouza and go from there :-)
