In case you couldn't tell, it's the Shetland Islands that have stolen our hearts from Logan Air's Black Friday sale. So, with almost a year’s worth of discounted dates to pick from, here’s our fave events on the calendar to look out for…

January-March: Up Helly Aa—How could we not give a mention to the world's coolest Viking fire festival? You’ll have to pay a bit extra for dates over the main event in Lerwick, but there are plenty of smaller festivals running until March.

May: Spot puffins—By now the temps are a little warmer and cute fluffy puffins begin to return to the cliffs of Sumburgh Head.

June: Witness the Simmer Dim—This unique term refers to the mystical glow of the sun lingering just under the horizon during midsummer.

From October: See the Northern Lights—Thanks to its northerly locations, you’ve got the best chance in all the UK to spot the Aurora Borealis from October–March.
