The Maldives for under €350 rtn..what's the catch?

Well, it comes with a rather long 20 hour layover in Muscat on one of the legs. But wait, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Hear us out...

After you arrive in Muscat at 6pm, you can shoot off to the city centre in 25 mins with a €20 taxi, or 40 mins with a €2 bus.

Either way, you'll still have plenty of time to wander down the corniche (a waterfront promenade) and souvenir shop in the Mutrah Souq souk.

When it's time to hit the hay, you can find plenty of hotels for under €50/night, and even cheaper hostels if you don't mind sharing a room.

Before catching your onward flight at 14:30 the next day, you can pay a visit to the Grand Mosque of Muscat, since they open to non-Muslims between 8am-11am. Don't forget to look out for the world's second-largest carpet and chandelier inside, they shouldn't be too hard to miss.

And then finally, you'll get your holiday in the Maldives, but you probably don't need us to tell you how to have fun there :-)
