Serious question: Who's brave enough to climb these stairs?

This mind-boggling tower sits atop a hillside near Gampola at a vertigo-inducing 3567 metres above sea level. To reach it, catch one of those Insta-famous trains to Kandy—leaning dramatically out of the open window is entirely optional.

Then, it's just a 1-hour bus ride to Gampola centre for around €0.50 before you can begin your ascent. 

Panoramic views of botanical gardens, scattered temples and distant mountains are your reward for braving the ever-narrowing climb.

Just watch out for other visitors on their way back down—we did mention it's a two-way thing, right? :-)
