Happy Halloween last day of Bat Appreciation Week! Everyone's favorite October holiday might be winding down, but the deals keep on coming.

Utah's caves and forests have a ton of bats, including this goofy little fella: the Townsend's big-eared bat. These guys have ears so huge they actually use them for lift when they're flying, Dumbo-style. They're found all over the state, including gorgeous spots like Zion National Park, but you're not likely to see any unless you go poking around in caves—or if you're a moth.

New York City has plenty of bats too, and not just the ones you'll find at Yankee Stadium. They live in alleyways and under bridges in all five boroughs, although they're most often spotted in Central Park. Like many New Yorkers, bats prefer to travel south for the winter, but year-round residents are sometimes found hibernating in trees and on park benches, conserving energy on chilly days. If you see one, just leave it be and warm yourself up instead—perhaps in one of the city's many, many top-shelf bars :-)
