Lisbon in $530-$560s RT

Everyone knows how incredible spring trips can be.

Your feed will be full of friends jetting to Japan or Amsterdam for their famous spring blooms. But little do they know, there’s another spot slightly closer to home where the streets burst into a purple petal explosion.

Lisbon’s jacaranda trees arrived in the 19th century — carried over from Brazil during the Columbian Exchange.  And come springtime, they paint the city in dreamy shades of violet. Stroll beneath them as petals drift to the ground, creating a purple rain, or catch a view from a miradouro where the rooftops glow orange against the lavender haze.

For the best show, plan your visit in late May when the blossoms are at their peak — just don't be surprised when your friends ask why they didn't go with you instead :-)
