When all the mulled wine in the world isn't enough, you go to Moldova

Fun fact: the country is home to the largest wine cellar in the world, with about 1.5 million bottles stretching over 200 kilometres. Take the electric train to explore the limestone tunnels, with plenty of tasting options for the true sommeliers in the group. 

But don't worry about getting lost—you can check out the smaller Cricova Winery instead, which only stretches 120 kilometres. And yes, they also have their own train, too. 

Of course, you can get your fair share of Christmassy fun in with Chișinău's main square covered in lights and market stalls where you can try local delicacies.
