Skiing and the Sahara....in the same trip?!

Let's start by getting the easy bit out of the way first. Around 80% of Algeria is covered by desert so you're never really too far away from the dunes. You'll have no problem finding organised tours all through the winter that leave from Algiers.

Now onto the cold stuff… The largest and highest ski resort in the country is Chréa, nestled between the snowy peaks of the Atlas Mountains. Now it's not the Alps by any means, but the scenery is still stunning, and the prices are simply undeniable :-)
