Add a little magic to your Venice vacation with a trip to Murano Island, home of gothic villas, master glassblowers, and genuine, bona fide, 100% authentic dragon bones.

Yeah, you read that right. Hanging at the back of the Basilica Santi Maria e San Donato, tucked behind the altar, are three enormous rib bones. You won't read this on any of the info markers in the church, but those bones supposedly belonged to a dragon slain by St. Donatus in the 4th century. According to the story, Donatus killed the beast by spitting into its mouth, so his oral hygiene must have been... pretty gnarly. 

The basilica also features some other relics of St. Donatus, but we think the dragon bones are the main attraction—especially since you can buy Donny's relics on eBay these days :-)
