Trinidad in $310s-$380s RT

Trinidad is so much more than just somewhere to chill on the beach.

It also happens to be the best place in the world to hear some sweet calypso grooves (while chilling on the beach).

Calypso is a true Trini original, born of West African Kaiso and canboulay mixed with a little Venezuelan waltz and European folk music. It was once the most popular music in Trinidad & Tobago, although these days it's been somewhat replaced by new genres like soca, which blends calypso with Indian influences.

You can hear calypso and soca all over in Port of Spain, but especially during the lead-in to Carnival in early March. Be warned, though—It's insanely catchy, so expect to have these tunes running through your head for at least a few weeks :-)
