The largest city in the world obviously has more than a few quirky secrets up its sleeve...

For starters, don't walk into any random bar or café in Tokyo unless you're prepared to find yourself transported — getting a drink here can mean everything from tangling with vampires to solving a murder.

And while trendy themed cafés might be a recent development, there are plenty of spots that are anything but. Tokyo's dotted with centuries-old temples, including the famous five-story pagoda.

It's dedicated to the goddess of mercy, probably because that's what you need after climbing five flights of stairs :-)
