Well, this isn't the usual Thailand you're used to seeing...

Aside from Bangkok, we hardly ever spot these regional Thai cities at a decent price. So here's a lil' recap of why each one is so special:

Chiang Rai — We bet you've never seen a temple quite like this one! And that's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this city's impressive structures.

Hat Yai — Want the long sandy shores minus the frantic full moon parties? Hat Yai is your place! And if you're still dreaming of finding your own secluded beach, you'll have way better luck island hopping from here than popular Phuket.

Udon Thani — Wanna avoid the holiday crowds at all costs? You shouldn't have a problem here. Once you've had your fill of authentic Thai life, it's a great base for an onward journey over to Vientiane in Laos.
