First things first,

I know you just landed, but trust me: you’ll want to hitch a ride straight up to 4,000 metres on the TelefériQo. From there, you can hike, paraglide, or just sip coca tea with the city sprawled out below you like a living map.

When heading out of town, Cotopaxi’s the move with its iconic snow-dusted volcano rising to the south of the city. And if you want a front-row seat? I know a secret spot that gets you real close.

Swing north of the equator and you'll hit Pululahua's massive volcanic crater, so lush and green, people live inside it. Remarkably, it's one of only a few inhabited calderas on Earth, and when the fog rolls in, it feels like you're in a dream sequence of a sci-fi movie.
