Sorry to interrupt your spring planning, but the Peruvian surf season is on!

Although the whole 2000 km of coast is teeming with waves waiting to be challenged, surfing is still a niche hobby among locals. And yes, you should be excited, cause this means rentals are still affordable, and the surf lines are not packed.

Beginners may want to start from San Bartolo, a small fishing town south of Lima. Easy to access from the capital, it draws big crowds of locals when the weather is warm.

Or, if you feel like you need lessons to get the basics down, look at some week-long surf packages along the coast. Most of them provide accommodation in traditional beach villas, with daily surf lessons, yoga, and plenty of good vibes :-)
